When planning my trip to Asheville to visit the Biltmore and the Chihuly art exhibit, I decided that I wanted to stay on the Biltmore property since that is where I would mostly be doing things. The Biltmore has two hotels that they exclusively offer to stay on their property and that is The Inn at Biltmore and the Village Hotel at Biltmore. The Inn at Biltmore is their higher end luxury hotel that I have stayed at before. The Inn is beautiful and an amazing place to stay, but since I was only going to be in Asheville for two days and also doing this as a solo trip, I decided to stay at the Village Hotel and to save The Inn for another time when I would be there longer to enjoy it more.
This would be my first stay at the Village Hotel and while this hotel is not slated as a luxury hotel as the Inn is, it was still a beautiful hotel where it not only felt comfortable, but also had very nice details throughout the entire property that still made it feel like a luxury to stay there.
The Property
I really enjoyed all of the little pleasantries placed around the property of the hotel. Coming into the lobby there is a cozy seating nook for those who are either waiting to check in, or who want to take a seat and rest for a while or for those even waiting on their coffee or food from the kitchen cafe. When you walk in you are greeted by not only the check-in desk, but also this little seating area that makes you feel at home.
There is also a place to stop in to get food and coffee called The Kitchen Cafe that’s open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can get things like lattes, breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, flat breads and more. It’s a convenient little spot that I was able to come back to for lunch as well as breakfast before I visited the Biltmore. They also have a lovely little seating area right across from the kitchen as anyone can eat here regardless of if they are staying at the hotel or not.
There was also plenty of beautiful things around the hotel that elevated the experience of staying here. There was a lovely outdoor seating area right off of The Kitchen Cafe, which is where I had my breakfast, there was art throughout the hotel, and plenty of flowers planted all over the property, especially hydrangeas. No matter where I looked everything was a visual pleasure and thoughtfully placed.
the room
For this trip I booked a standard king room for myself. The room was cozy and quite spacious and had plenty of places to store my things. It had additional seating beyond the bed which I always appreciate, and every Biltmore Hotel is stocked with their bottled water, which is free, as well as Biltmore wine that you can drink, and they will simply charge back to the room.
the pool
If it’s summer and I am traveling to a hotel that has a pool, then I will make time to enjoy a pool afternoon at some point. On my second day after visiting the Biltmore house as well as the Chihuly exhibit, I came back to my hotel, had lunch and got ready for a pool afternoon. I purchased a book at the Biltmore gift shop, so I grabbed my book and headphones and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon lounging in the sun. The pool area was like the rest of the hotel, pleasant, cozy and very well maintained.
While there are many great hotels to explore in Asheville including The Omni Grove Park Inn and Grand Bohemian Hotel, I do prefer the Biltmore hotels when staying in Asheville and planning a Biltmore Estate visit. The hotels offer a beautiful space to stay and relax in as well as easy access to the Biltmore Estate as well as Antler Hill Village which has restaurants, shops and even a small farm that you can visit. Both properties are quiet and cozy and beautifully adorned. I am happy that I got to stay at The Village Hotel for my trip and I am already looking forward to the next time that I get to visit again.
