It’s another beautiful weekend and by the time you read this I will be enjoying some time in New York. NYC is always such a fun place to visit, but especially in the fall when the air is much cooler, and the leaves are starting to change. Fall is my favorite time to travel to big cities for so many reasons. You start to see all of the shops bring out the best fall decor and you get a feeling of coziness and wanting to tuck away into a cute cafe or bookshop for the afternoon. You also want to bundle up in a sweater and scarf, grab a latte from a coffee shop and walk around the park. With so much to see and do I am looking forward to a cozy trip to the big apple for a few days. As we start to settle not only into a new official season, but also a new month, here is a curated list of things to enjoy, read or view for this new transition.
SHOPPING, BOOKS, MEDIA, ETC.
Sweater season is upon us, and I am a girl who loves a classic cardigan and this classic cotton cardigan from J. Crew Factory is such an elegant style to incorporate into fall style.
When it’s the weekend and I plan on spending the day cozied up at home, I like to wear oversized sweaters and this ribbed Johnny collar sweater looks like an elevated piece to wear while relaxing at home, but especially in this bright wine color too.
I am loving our new little dining nook and am currently looking for other tablecloths that I can purchase to keep on hand to change out occasionally and this light beige pumpkins tablecloth from H&M home will be nice addition for the fall season.
It is such a small luxury to bring home a fresh bouquet of flowers every week for our home and having a few vases available gives me the opportunity to make either large or smaller arrangements as well as lending itself to a seasonal look. This dark green irregular vase is not only very pretty and comes in two sizes, but the color is also great for both the fall and winter seasons.
While a little on the pricier side at $50 a piece, I still couldn’t help but love these Le Creuset pumpkin mugs that were recently released. I loved the colors and especially that they had a little removable pumpkin top for the cup too. I may wait until a holiday sale or even an end-of-season sale to get one or two of these, even if I have to wait until next year to use them.
You already know I love a beautiful tray for the home, and this fluted antique brass finish tray would be a great addition for any time of year, but especially for autumn.
I was recently looking for a new body lotion as I didn’t particularly like the one that I got from Neccessaire, so when I was out shopping this past weekend, I picked up this moisturizing melt in balm body lotion from Avene. I already love this French brand and use some of their products currently. It was a bit of an investment at $36, but there is a lot of cream in the container and a little bit goes a long way, so I am thinking that this jar will last me for a few months. I loved the consistency of the lotion and how it did melt right into my skin with ease. The scent is also very lovely as it is the same signature scent of all of their products. If you are looking for a good body lotion, then I highly recommend trying Avene.
Fionna Ferris cannot release a new book, and it not make it onto my curated weekly list! Released this past Sunday was Financially Chic Volume 2: How to be
I know we just entered fall, but I sometimes can’t help it when I find Christmas themed things and then have to share it. I am such a fan of Laurie Gilmore’s cozy romances in the small town of Dream Harbor and having read The Pumpkin Spice Cafe (which will be a re-read for this year too), The Cinnamon Bun Book Store (on my tbr for this season as well), her newest book, The Christmas Tree Farm is on my list as well. Being released on October 22nd, I have this one pre-ordered and can’t wait to read it closer time to December.
Another fun looing novel to be released on 10/22 is How Does That Make You Feel, Magda Eklund? by Anna Montague. The synopsis kind of gives me the same feeling as Where’d You Go Bernadette. It’s about a character in her nearly 70 years of life, Magda has never veered from her routines. But while going through an old journal of her recently departed best friend Sara, she discovers plans for a road trip the two of them were going to take to celebrate Magda’s 70th birthday. So, with her friend’s urn strapped into the passenger seat, Magda sets off on the cross-country journey, meeting a various cast of characters on the way who will challenge her long held perceptions about identity, sexuality, love, family, and friendship.
Also being released on October 15 is What I Ate in One Year (and related thoughts) by Stanely Tucci. If you are a foodie or enjoy food essays, then this one is sure to be a fun read. Ranging from the mouth-wateringly memorable to the comfortingly domestic and to the infuriatingly inedible, the meals memorialised in this diary are a prism for him to reflect on the ways his life, and his family, are constantly evolving.
One of my favorite comfort shows will be back on this weekend and I cannot tell you how excited I am! The Great British Bakeoff will be in its 12th season and while I may be in New York when it premiers that Friday, it will just give me something to look forward to on Sunday when we return home. A show that is as cozy as it is entertaining, it is the perfect way to start the fall season. I will be baking up a batch of cookies to celebrate the premier, will you be tuning in this season too?
I grew up in the 90’s enjoying all of the 90’s shows as well and one that I was so happy to see make a return a few years ago was Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix. What makes this show special is that it’s not a crime documentary, it’s about true mysteries that will completely baffle you with its severe lack of clues or tips. The subjects range anywhere from disappearances, historical events, and even into the more supernatural, but all are an interesting foray into the unsolved. It is a perfect show for fall viewing, and I am ready for the newest season being released on October 2nd.
Looking for some cozy fall videos to relax to? Then look into The Four Seasons Home YouTube channel. Her videos are always so pretty and seasonal, and I enjoy watching them as she decorates, does hobbies, shops and bakes.
And since I will be in New York on Friday, here is a lovely New York thrifted apartment tour inspired by France.

While I know we just entered the autumn season and still Halloween and Thanksgiving coming up, I am still a girl who loves to look at all of the Christmas arrivals and Hearth & Hand just released a sneak peek into their holiday line for this year. If you are a Gilmore Girls fan like I am, then you may be interested in this new Gilmore Girls advent calendar available on Amazon. At only $29.99, I expect there to be small little gifts such as bookmarks, buttons, stickers and keychains, but if you like small trinkets then you may enjoy this cozy advent calendar.
In a new article on Town & Country, Ina Garten talks about the time she once considered divorcing her husband, Jeffrey. She opens up about when she started operating The Barefoot Contessa and how her role within the relationship changed from a “traditional” one, to one that needed more support equal support. It’s an insightful read as I believe we as modern-day working women can relate to this feeling.
I am super excited that there will be another Bridget Jones movie released on Valentine’s Day 2025 (or February 14, 2025). I loved the last Bridget Jones movie and am looking forward to seeing the new one in the theater in just a few months.

A question that I have sometimes pondered myself in these more modern art and food times, is culture dying? As mentioned in the article, Olivier Roy, a French political scientist, argues that culture, in general, really is getting worse; in fact, the whole world is undergoing a process of “deculturation.” Globalization, neoliberalism, postmodernism, individualism, secularism, the Internet, and so on—are undermining culture by rendering it “transparent,” turning our cultural practices into “a collection of tokens” to be traded and displayed. Culture used to be something we did for its own sake; now we do it to position ourselves vis-à-vis other people. For Roy, this means that it’s dying.
Anthony Bourdain always had an interesting way of seeing the world. I loved watching his show, Parts Unknown and gleaned a lot of interesting things to think on after watching. In this article, The Advice My Friend Anthony Bourdain Gave Me, chef Gabrielle Hamilton remembers her time with Anthony Bourdain and twenty years later she recounts how his advice from that time resonates more than ever.
what i pinned this past week on pinterest
This week on Pinterest I was certainly leaning into the autumn coziness with pins of cozy hot drinks, comfort food, autumn in New York, and of course cozy home decor. I also see a few bookish pins on the grid which isn’t surprising because as the weather starts to cool off it becomes the perfect time to curl up with a good book. And as we are now starting to move into October, I also see a few Christmas pins popping in as well. As always, if you’d like to follow me on Pinterest just scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Pinterest icon which will take you directly to my page to follow.
